me: I had just come from AUS and feeling all good to be amidst Indians outside Shoppers stop in Andheri. A well dressed man asked some parked auto fellow to take him somewhere. The auto guy refused claiming he was booked and had got someone from bandra to shoppers stop about rs. 80 in meter. the other guy got very angry. screamed in very refined English for about 5 minutes and threatened auto guy badly using words like bastards, mother fucker, desi, chutiya, bhaiya, hijda and what not.

me: I intervened and told that yes, I had seen the someone come in auto so the bugger yelled on me too. I replied back in English firmly and the guy backed off. I was always wondering if I had seen a BROWN GORA who was opressing the illiterate Indians.

me: And the same thoughts are evident. Britishers opressed Indian as a foreigners. WCD, PWDVA, judiciary at the end of day is an idea that is driven by a british mindset. Indian justice prior to british was definitely not the court room based as in the west.

What a profound quote!!!
Its sheer mind numbing to ponder over his words and its relevance to current global temparements. Worldwide more and more places are dressing up with more security enhancing gadgets and scrutinizing everyone who walks on two.
India in last few years has had to face lot of unprovoked attacks on its citizens and they in turn have yielded, nay demanded to have more and more scrutiny of
everyone.
Just cause a terrorist may look like one of us, we are all required to give up our privacy that our forefathers took for granted. We have ourselves scanned at the entrys of malls, the railway stations, any public place ... as we go about our daily business ...
Ironically enough when there were no such checks, there were no such terrorists attacks either!!!
With increased checks, papers report that we've had 57 attacks in a 2008. What a year!!! That is more than one a week!!! I've already stopped counting. Its depressing!!!
What is the way out of this terrorism mess, Dear Mr. Franklin!!
There is large section of media that blames your successors who've resided in the White House long after you've departed.
Myself, an commoner residing in India with little knowledge seem to be agreeing to everyone and in process losing essential and non-essential liberty!!!

The Lawyer who represents Kasab is not becoming a traitor
I am currently a Mumbaikar who witnessed the Terrorist attacks on 26/11/08. I now follow and devour every scrap of news in The Times of India and The Mumbai Mirror.
Notice anything in Photographs of Kasab?
Currently, the shooter Ajmal Kasab, who was captured red-handed by the authorities and is still alive, seems to be the focus of media with his picture appearing daily and in colour.
I can not help but marvel at the coincidence that he was the only terrorist photographed when the attacks were still in progress and he is the only one still left alive now.
In some of his very early photographs, his side sneer does reveal a very cunning and sadistic Individual. How many people can see what I see?
How and why is Kasab giving information?
Kasab as a trained fighter would not have normally revealed so much easily. So, his interrogators are using pressure to make him talk. I don’t think that if he was out on streets, he would be alive, so Police is definitely behaving in his best interests of his life by keeping him locked.
Amount of information coming from Kasab about, his Pakistani origins, his motives, his trainers and so on that is getting published everyday in the Times is too damn good to be believable!!!
Pressure applied to Kasab is working. Kasab is singing. And he does seem to talk beautifully well as far as everyone remotely Indian is concerned!!
If the Mumbai Police Interrogators are extracting out all this crucial details from Ajmal, Why is it allowed for printing in newspapers on a daily basis? Is it to soothe the Indian nerves? It is definitely working for me.
Is Pakistan sincerely helpful or is displaying guilt?
The Times also carried articles that seem contradicting. It state that “Pakistani Authorities claims that they do not have enough information to help India” which was followed by formal Indian response that “Information will be given to Pakistan once the Investigations are over”.
If so much Information is publicly available in India, what is still being hidden that is prompting Pakistan to ask for it?
It is too hard to believe that Pakistan became sincere just coz few hundred Indians were butchered in Mumbai.
So, the question from Pakistan is either their excuse to stall work OR question stemming from deeper guilty conscious. They may be in need of time to cover up what has Ajmal already told to India?
Only guess that I can make is Ajmal Kasab has actually given out names incriminating enough of the strong people
What is missing? I am just curious. In this case, however patience matters and is probably worth it. Being an Indian, I will wait for Government to make it public.
Perspectives of Kasab from two sides of the border
It is more or less certain that India will not acquit Kasab for rest of his life.
India may or may not hang him as he is definitely a prized trophy in our hands.
It does not matter that many in Pakistan may be thinking that he is in wrong hands and in deep trouble. Pakistani government has officially disowned him.
To us Indians, he is a terrorist. There will be definitely people in Pakistan, who will be his supporters. To them, he maybe a martyr and an inspiration to follow
Is Kasab now helping India? Is it even possible for him to help India?
Kasab is singing exactly what the Indians have always wanted a Pakistani (any Pakistani) to admit, But the bigger question that bothers me is: Of what use is getting such statements out of a captured Pakistani caught by Indians while he was on killing spree.
Are his statements and confessions helping India or hurting India? This is the biggest question and reason for this blog!!
My most reasonable conclusions that I can come up with is that given the circumstances under which he is revealing so much with so much accuracy, he is either committing a suicide or setting up a fresh terrorist attack!!! OR HE IS DOING BOTH TOGETHER!!!
In my limited vision, I can see that Kasab is currently creating a second bomb. For raw materials, he is using the Indian Interrogators, Indian media and every one else who will be his adversary. His new bomb will not blow up any buildings physically, but it will cause a damage far bigger!!
IMHO, Kasab by telling so much to India with so much precision is actually creating a brilliant defence for himself and for his country, Pakistan!!
Kasab without Lawyer will be a nightmare
If India does run a trial on him without giving him an advocate, he will be allowed to talk himself in the court in front of a Judge. His trial will naturally be viewed and covered in International media.
Under the circumstances, all that Kasab has to say at that the court is that he agreed to everything to his Indian interrogators so as to avoid any more torture that he was facing. It was the best Kasab could do to save his life. He just said "Yes, Yes, Yes" to everything because his Indian interrogators were cruel and not giving him food he wanted and beating him up, etc etc etc ...
Indians were so cruel that they did not even give him a lawyer but subjected him to a big trial.
His mental bomb if blown as he is planning will completely destroy the credibility of Indian Police, Indian courts. Whether or not India hangs him will become irrelevant after that as Kasab will have served Pakistan and his terrorism mentors.
Viewed from my limited knowledge, Kasab is still being enemy of India in that sense.
How to stop Kasab now?
By not having an advocate to represent him by succumbing to short-sighted politics, India may literally be playing right into the hands of Kasab.
He has approached Pakistan for Legal Aid. If he cannot get Indian lawyer, he will be allowed to use a good lawyer from Pakistan. Is that a good situation? There will be two Pakistani brains working together to save their country and Kasab instead of one.
We as Indians must actually disallow that and give Kasab a prominent Indian lawyer who will be friendly with Kasab. The job of the lawyer of Kasab is not to defend Kasab but to reconfirm all that Kasab has already said to his interrogators. Second time around, he has to say it in front of a camera while he is well dressed, not handcuffed and seemingly free from being pressured. Advocate of Kasab can then use that confession by way of plea-bargain process on behalf of his client.

With a lawyer representing him in the court, Kasab will not be able to talk more then what is necessary. In fact, it will be possible for Indian Police to retain him in lockup and allow a live Video link for him. His lawyer will be in court instead of him and trial will not be called a farce.
